About LA Quilt Co

Hi friends!  I'm Leigh Ann, Owner of LA Quilt Co, wife to Abraham and mom to Ike.  I love snail mail, sunshine, our red headed doggo and western Kansas community revitalization.  I firmly believe that community is stitched and happiness is homemade with the right amount of intentionality and guidance.  And we're so glad you're here for that!    

I grew up in Oakley on my family's 4th generation farm where we raised corn, wheat, sunflowers, soybeans and red headed entrepreneurs.  I attended Kansas State University and Manhattan Christian College through their dual degree program.  As I was earning my Agricultural Communications and Journalism and Bible and Leadership Studies degrees, I was also learning just how important western Kansas was to me and who I am today.  I spent 9 years working at Kansas Farm Bureau supporting farmers and ranchers across the state.  I lead a team of field staff across the state that supported county Farm Bureau boards in all 105 counties - my work focused on creating programs and opportunities to develop influential, thought-leaders who would choose to engage, create change and look for solutions, not only in agriculture, but in counties and communities across the state.  My work was filled with purpose because I worked on behalf of some of the greatest people I know - Kansas Farm Bureau members.  In those 9 years, I spent much of my time dreaming with and encouraging others to tell their story.  to engage in their communities and to sit around the tables of hard conversations. to fill the gaps they see.  and now, it's my turn to do that in my own community and corner of the state. 

It is my goal that LA Quilt Co becomes a gathering place for quilters, crafters and sewers of all levels of experiences and ages to create and dream. Our space will be rooted in community and known for bringing people together, encouraging new relationships and fostering creative thinking and doing.  A main street business that intentionally supports its people and a place that cultivates space for makers, dreamers and doers. 

I grew up sewing with my mom making 4-H projects and my love for sewing has only grown ever the years.  I love helping people find their creativity and I truly believe happiness is homemade.  And with a little boy around, making him blankets and other things has become a favorite activity. I still feel as excited about this quilt shop dream as the day we got the keys for the building!  I'm living my dream and excited to welcome you in soon.
